What does it cost to have a product video made?

7 September 2026 · Kas Benneker, founder of Setless Productions

Having a product video made at a Dutch production agency typically costs 750 to 3,500 euros per video, depending on length, location and whether a model is involved. A simple product video against a neutral background sits at the lower end of that range. A video with an actor, location and script sits at the higher end.

The sum that often gets forgotten: for ads you don't need one video, you need several variants that you replace every few weeks.

What does the price consist of?

Item Cost
Shoot day with crew 1,150 to 1,800 euros
Location hire 500 to 1,000 euros a day
Actor or model 500 to 1,000 euros a day
Editing and colour correction 400 to 1,200 euros per video
Voice-over 150 to 400 euros
Music licensing 50 to 300 euros

A shoot day usually produces material for one to three videos. Every extra variant you want later means shooting again.

Why isn't one video enough?

Ad creative wears out. At a 7-day frequency above 2.5, your CTR starts to drop, and around 3.5 you're running at a loss. Roughly half of all ad creatives are replaced within 28 days at brands that actively optimise.

That means one video costing 2,000 euros isn't a yearly investment, it's an investment that needs replacing after a month or two. Work that through over a year of advertising, and you land on an amount most brands hadn't budgeted for.

What does it cost per usable ad?

This is the sum that's more useful than the price per video:

Approach Cost per year Number of variants
Individual productions at an agency 6,000 to 15,000 euros 4 to 8 videos
Monthly production without a shoot 4,788 euros (399 per month) 12 videos plus 144 photos

With Setless's entry-level package you get 12 photos and 1 video a month. With the Growth package at 799 euros a month, that's 18 photos and 3 videos, which works out to 36 videos a year.

All packages are listed on the packages page.

What determines whether a product video works?

Not production value. An expensive video without the right structure performs worse than a simple video made according to a proven structure.

The elements that make the difference:

  1. A hook within three seconds. What happens in the first shot decides whether someone keeps watching.
  2. Value proposition in the five seconds after that. Not what the product is, but what it delivers.
  3. A concrete call-to-action. One action, clearly stated.
  4. Works without sound. A large share of viewers watch with the sound off.

This structure is set out in the article on ad formulas.

When should you still choose an agency with a crew?

A traditional video production is the right choice for:

  • A brand film that stays on your homepage for years.
  • Video featuring recognisable people or a specific location front and centre.
  • Productions where the physical action sells the product and has to be exactly right, for example tools or equipment in use.

For ad content that needs refreshing every few weeks, those costs rarely pay off against the result.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a product video be? For TikTok and Reels ads, 9 to 15 seconds works best with cold audiences. For a product page, 30 to 60 seconds works, because the viewer is already interested there.

How many videos do I need per month? Plan on one to three new variants per month per active campaign, so you can replace them before frequency climbs too high.

Can I use the same video on Meta and TikTok? The structure is the same, the finish isn't. TikTok calls for a more direct, rawer tone. Often the same base works with a different edit and different on-screen text.

What do I need to get started? Photos of your product or a description. From that material a hero shot is created first, and the videos are built on top of it.
